Although the smallest of the five Mexican states participating in the Mundo Maya project, Tabasco's diminutive size has no bearing on the diversity of its attractions It boasts wetlands and jungles teeming with wildlife, as well as an important prehispanic heritage. 

 

The Olmec culture considered the source from which other pre-Columbian civilizations sprang, flourished here from 900 to 400 BC. Centuries later, the ancient Maya followed.
